James Dondero: ‘Money, Money, Money’

American James Dondero is a businessman, a chartered financial analyst (CFA), an investor, and a certified management accountant (CMA). He is perhaps most famous for being the co-founder of Highland Capital Management (HCM). He opened the business in 1993 with his old friend James Okada. Dondero is in charge of handling distressed investments and managing hedge funds.

Dondero lives in Dallas, Texas. Dondero has over three decades of experience working in equity and credit markets. According to online sources, it all began with Dondero’s formal education.

Said awards include the Morningstar Award and the industry-famous Lipper Award. More recently, he was nominated to the esteemed executive board of the Southern Methodist University.

James Dondero was an active and vocal supporter of the university’s public policies. He was also involved in the actual construction of the college library. Dondero has even told the press that SMU has a strong impact on many of the various professionals who work in the Dallas, Texas area.

James Dondero’s own corporation, Highland Capital Management has even felt this very same influence. The business’ board presently includes approximately 100 individuals from various areas as well as “non-academic” members.
