The Brazilian economy is said to have grown in the first quarter of the year by 0.4% as compared to the fourth quarter of 2017. The growth report was given by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics, and the economy had increased by 1.2%. According to the report the growth was influenced by the agricultural sector. However, when the industry is analyzed the previous year had performed better than this year. According to Folha de S. Paulo, the Gross Domestic Product in the Agriculture and the Livestock industries went down with 2.6% from January to March as compared to the same period the previous year. Mr. Maluf also reported how the agriculture and the livestock sectors were affected by the track drivers demonstration from 21 May and which went on for ten days. Farmers also lost their cycle from April to June this according to a report by Flavio. Farmers were forced to delay their harvest, and some of them even went ahead to stop the harvesting activities.
