According to Light Reading, the telecommunications company, Coriant, has recently appointed Shaygan Kheradpir as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Coriant’s previous CEO, Pat DiPietro, is resuming his old role as Vice President at Martin Equity Partners, which is incidentally the parent company of Coriant.

Although there is a small bit of apprehension regarding Kheradpir’s appointment, Coriant and Martin Equity Partners have both defended Kheradpir, citing his extensive leadership experience across the telecommunications and technology industries. Shaygan Kheradpir was raised in Iran by a doctor. He eventually came to the United States to attend Cornell University, where he received his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. He received his degrees in Electrical Engineering. Kheradpir used his degrees and experience at Cornell to create multiple patents in the technology and telecommunications industries.

After his time at Cornell University, Kheradpir worked for GTE Corporation. He quickly worked his way up to Chief Information Officer, delivering many new products. From GTE Corporation, Kheradpir worked for Verizon Communications as a leader in creating and championing new products and patents. Furthermore, he helped Verizon Communications restructure its IT department, saving the company money in the process.

From Verizon Communications, Kheradpir moved on to Barclays. As a Chief Operations and Technology Officer, Kheradpir helped to transform Barclays to a large scale, twenty-first century global and innovative bank.

Kheradpir then became a CEO of Juniper Networks for ten eventful months. At Juniper, Kheradpir created a cost-saving plan, which helped to strategically grow market shares. He gave over $3 billion dollars back to the shareholders. Kheradpir also restructured the products that company offered, creating more cost-saving and efficient products.

Following his time at Juniper Networks, Kheradpir became the CEO of telecommunications company, Coriant, in September 2015.
